Step 1
Please use the online application form and provide the details requested and submit it on the link provided. If unable to fill out the online form you can call 1-902-616-4328 (HEAT) – to leave a message and be sure to provide some indication of urgency of your need. We will return your call during office hours. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday 9am to 4:30pm.
Step 2
A representative of PCFF will get in touch with you to review your situation and confirm the level of support that may be available.
Step 3
We will review the various level of support available for each situation. We recognize that “urgent situations” require quick action and that will be our goal to the extent possible. IF you have not heard back from the PCFF within 48 hours Monday – Friday please call to confirm the status of your online application.
Step 4
In acting upon any application, the Pictou County Fuel Fund may make all necessary investigations with other agencies in support of any assistance granted or released. Once completed, this application form becomes the property of the Pictou County Fuel Fund.

We try our best to make arrangements with our suppliers, however this is not an emergency service but is provided for urgent situations. Your request will be addressed in a timely and respectful manner, your privacy is important to us.
The Pictou County Fuel Fund is an assistance program for urgent fuel need which operates under the following guidelines:
1st year – If approved, the client is eligible for $450 worth of oil or $450 worth of wood, wood pellets or propane.
2nd year – If approved, the client is eligible for the same amount of assistance as previous year with a $100 co-pay.
3rd year – If approved, the client is eligible for the same amount of assistance as previous year with a $150 co-pay.
4th year – If approved, the client is eligible for the same amount of assistance as previous year with a $150 co-pay.
5th year – The client is not eligible to receive assistance.
6th year – The client cycles back to 1st year of the program, if necessary.
When a co-pay is required, the client must arrange to pay the fuel supplier prior to delivery.
