November 2025
We are all feeling the impact of inflation these days. But imagine if you had to choose between buying food and heating your home. This is the reality for many of our neighbours.
The Pictou County Fuel Fund (PCFF) provides urgent support to individuals and families who are truly in need. Last year, because of the generosity of people like you, we were able to provide fuel assistance to 263 families. For more than 20 years, the Pictou County Fuel Fund has provided urgent assistance when no other source of funding for fuel is available.
The PCFF this year is offering a maximum of $500 of oil, propane, wood pellets or hardwood to people in true need. The Fuel Fund is run by a small group of community minded volunteers. We keep our overhead costs extremely low, so you can be assured that the money you donate goes to heating a home.
We do expect an increase in requests for assistance this heating season, in part, because the Home Assistance Rebate Program has been reduced. The PCFF is not supported by the provincial or federal government. We are 100 percent reliant on donations from individuals, businesses and municipalities in Pictou County.
Heat insecurity is real in our community, and we ask that you take a moment to consider our request to help those who face a heating crisis without our help.
Tax receipts will be issued and cheques (payable to the Pictou County Fuel Fund) may be mailed to:
